Just a little thought for the night...

The Importance of a GOOD Workout Partner...

We've all been there, right? Asked a friend to start working out with us and then they turn out to be less than motivational? In fact, they tend to be de-motivational...lazy and don't follow through.

This has happened to me more times than I can count over the years and their bad habits tend to rub off on me. We would always start off SO good but as soon as they lost motivation, so did I.

This is why a GOOD workout partner is so essential. You need someone who is going to consistently push and motivate you. Someone you can rely on. Someone who isn't going to slack and certainly won't let you slack. This is essential for success.

I may not be where I want to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be.

Sorry, I have been SERIOUSLY slacking on my blog posts

I'm sorry to say that I have seriously neglected my blog...my apologies to anyone who was anticipating more posts. But hey, I'm a busy college girl and I'm only human, right? I have made it one of my goals this month to update more regularly...multiple times per week. So bear with me while I try to catch you up to speed on my fitness/health journey.

So...last time I posted I was doing the 21 Day Fix which I wrote a whole post about. I finished three rounds of the fix and LOVED it. It really kick started my fitness journey and helped me look at food in a completely new way. I also fell in love with the exercises. I also had mentioned that I would be starting PiYo (a mix between Pilates and Yoga). I did about three weeks of this program and decided to put it on my back burner for now and save for later. Don't get me wrong, I completely loved the program and all it had to offer me (especially with flexibility and just overall relaxing and strengthening my body) but it just wasn't the program I was looking for at this point in my fitness journey. What I was looking for was a high intensity, fat burning exercise program that would really kick my ass into gear. And guess what?! I've found it!

I started T25 last Monday with three of my best friends. It's a workout program done by Shaun T (you know that crazy guy who came out with the Insanity workouts? Yeah, him!). It's a 25 minute, no bullshit workout. You get in and you get out. Is it hard? Absolutely! It has kicked my butt every single day so far and has made me ridiculously sore. Seriously, I didn't know you could sweat this much from a workout. Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself.

We have been working up some serious sweat...and yes, it's only in 25 minutes! The workouts are only 5 days a week (Monday through Friday) with an optional stretch video to do on the weekends. This program is literally amazing for busy people who "don't have enough time". There is no excuse. Anyone has time for this. I know what you're thinking...well Jenn, it's only 25 minutes so it's got to be some super intense, crazy workout that no one can keep up with unless they are super fit. And you know what I have to say to that? WRONG! There is a modifier for every workout so if at any point something seems too difficult you can just follow her...and you still see amazing results! I've got to be honest, a good portion of the time, I'm following Tania (the modifier) and I still get an amazing workout in and am seeing results! Here, let me show you!

You can see from the picture that my stomach is already starting to de-bloat (is that even a word?). Well anyways, I am far less bloated on the left (now) than I was on the right (when I started). And this is only after one week! Seriously, I can't give enough praise to this program. Of course I am also still drinking my Shakeology which has been giving me the amazing energy to do this workouts and really nail them! Right now I am drinking Tropical Strawberry which has been a nice refreshing taste during the summer. I am however, a chocolate girl (always have been and always will be) and will be going back to that flavor in this upcoming month! Honestly, they're both delicious though I just love all that they do for me.

I think that's about it for now. I will keep you all posted on my progress with this program and as I said, I am making it a goal and a priority to keep up with this blog!!! If you have any questions or just want to chat with me, feel free to send me an email at jennifer.conley1993@gmail.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Also, feel free to follow my Instagram for fitness motivation and updates!

21 Day Fix

So as some of you may know, I have been following the 21 Day Fix Beachbody program for the last month. As of today, I have completed four weeks of the program and what else can I say but...I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!!!! For those of you who have never heard of this program or have but want to know more...I'm going to break it down for you and explain a little bit what this program is all about.

So, the 21 Day Fix is a fitness and nutrition program that is completed in rounds. Each round is 21 days. Each day is a different workout. The workouts are as followed: Total Body Cardio Fix, Upper Fix, Lower Fix, Pilates, Cardio Fix, Dirty 30, and Yoga Fix. There is also an extra workout called 10-Minute Ab Fix. This is an extra and is optional. However, for best results, I recommend doing it almost every day. It definitely helps with toning your stomach.

As I said before, the program is also a nutritional plan which is the most ESSENTIAL part of the program. No matter how much working out you do, abs are made in the kitchen. You can blow a whole workout by eating one bad meal. So to maximize your results on this program, you will also be following Autumn Calabrese's (the creater of the 21 Day Fix) nutrition plan using the containers shown above. How this works is you will use a formula to determine how many calories you should be eating in a day to lose weight. Based on this number, the guide will tell you how many containers you are allotted in a day. For example, I get 5 greens, 5 purples, 5 reds, 4 yellows, 1 blue, 1 orange, and 5 teaspoons. The nutritional guide also gives you a list through each category of what foods you can eat.

The list looks like this. I find it much easier to meal prep ahead of time so I can plan out all of my containers and just makes the day go much smoother. Also, by having my meals already made and planned out, I find it much easier to resist temptation throughout the day.

This program is fool proof! All of the hard work has already been done for you. There's no counting calories, no crazy no-carb rules, etc. You simply eat your allotted containers with the allowed foods and follow the workout schedules then you are GUARANTEED to lose weight and inches! Take me for example..I will post my before picture next to my current picture to just show you what this program can do for you. Remember...this is only after 4 weeks which is phenomenal!

I have lost a total of 5 pounds and around 10 inches! I'm so excited to continue this journey and help to improve my health and fitness. I will also be adding another Beachbody program to my regime tomorrow called PiYo. I will be posting another entry about this program later. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend and enjoy this beautiful Sunday! If you would like to learn more about this program feel free to connect to me through either Facebook or email. Fitness...

has always been a struggle for me. I have striven to be healthy and fit for nearly half of my life. Ever since graduating high school, I feel as if my health has been on a downward spiral...completely out of control. I have reached my highest weight...ever. This needs to change. And I am determined to change it. It's time for a change. I'm just hoping to find people who are trying to do the same, so that we can help to inspire each other. More to come.

Jenn
